Ed Mascari Piano Studios Faculty Member
Experienced Teacher and Pianist
Robert Canavello, studied piano early on with world-renowned teachers in New York at the Juilliard School, Mannes College of Music, and SUNY at Stony Brook. He was awarded a fellowship from the French government to continue his studies in Paris. He also studied and worked in Vienna for a year.
Back in the United States, Robert began teaching at the Community Music Center of San Francisco and later the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Upon moving to Concord MA, Robert taught, as his schedule allowed, at the Fourth Presbyterian Church in South Boston and the Indian Hill School in Littleton, MA.
Robert is resuming his career as a teacher after working as a computer programmer and technical writer. In addition to his musical studies, he holds a Master of Theological Studies degree from Harvard University.
Robert also occasionally enjoys home recording. Here he is playing the first movement from the Beethoven Piano Sonata in E major, opus 109.
Studying with several acclaimed teachers early in his piano playing allowed Robert to get a sense of many different styles of piano instruction. In developing his own teaching style,
“I met Robert this afternoon. In my busy life, the one hour piano lesson is like a fresh breeze. When I walked out of the studio, I felt refreshing, confident and motivated. I also really enjoy playing duets with Robert. Thank you Ed. I am glad that I found your place online a few months ago”
Robert emphasizes adapting his own knowledge, and the materials he uses, to suit the personality and goals of each individual student.
Mr. Canavello is teaching on Thursdays (afternoon and evening) and Fridays (in the morning) at the Ed Mascari Piano Studios in Hudson, Massachusetts.
